Tchaikovsky was born into a wealthy middle-class family and worked in the judiciary after graduating from law school. In 1863, he studied under the musician Anton Rubinstein and taught at the Moscow Conservatory from 1866 to 1878. In 1876, he received funding from Madame von Meck to focus on composing.

His works, including ballets and operas, established his reputation in Russia. His music blends the elegance of European classical style with Russian folk elements, creating a lyrical and emotional experience. His most famous opera is Eugene Onegin, and his ballets are renowned for their rich forms and expressive qualities.
